Job Description
The Accounting Manager will participate in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the credit union. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger system, preparing and/or reviewing general ledger entries, and reconciliation. This role is responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting and researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems by maintaining books of accounts and related materials.
  • Handle day-to-day financial matters.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, identify variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing effective accounting strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all financial reports as required.
  • Monitor expenses throughout the year and prepare an annual budget.
  • Maintain records for prepaid, fixed assets, investments, and accruals.
  • Perform Asset Liability Management (ALM) modeling as part of the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) committee.
  • Perform daily and monthly duties related to liquidity, cash balancing, general ledger, and month-end closing.
  • Required to attend in-person Executive Management meetings and be present during in-person audits.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field preferred, or equivalent of 5 to 7 years’ experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Must demonstrate high level of diplomacy and trust, along with having excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective organizational, time management, and leadership skills.  Must have analytical and critical thinking skills. Candidate must live in the Cleveland area or must be willing to relocate. The candidate must also be able to pass a criminal background check, credit check, and a Chex Systems verification.
